Who, What, and How Long
Who
Child Ambassadors are passionate volunteers who know first hand the life changing impact of sponsoring a child. Out of an overflow of love and compassion, Child Ambassadors work to improve the lives of children and families living in poverty by inspiring others in their community to sponsor a child, too.
A Child Ambassador is:
- Committed to Christ, regularly attends a local church, and is growing in his/her walk with Christ
- Willing to share World Vision’s mission and core values with others
- Passionate about serving children and families in need
- Open to finding opportunities to share the benefits of child sponsorship
- Excited to ask others to get involved
- A current Child Sponsor with World Vision
- At least 21 years old
What
Child Ambassadors are asked to initiate 8 to 10 opportunities to share World Vision Child Sponsorship in a 12 month period. These activities could include things like:
- Sharing one-on-one with your friends, family, or co-workers
- Making presentations to small groups, women’s/men’s groups, Rotary, or other service clubs
- Representing World Vision at missions fairs or conferences
- Phoning other sponsors and donors during special campaigns
- Participate in Hope Sunday – a campaign in which volunteers share sponsorship with their church
- Participate in other campaigns throughout the year
- Set up Child Sponsorship Displays in local churches and businesses, and/or present child sponsorship at home gatherings
- Maintain regular contact with your volunteer Area Manager and participate in regional meetings
- Prayerfully lift up your fellow volunteers and your own commitment to serve children in need; pray for your own walk with Christ
How Long
Child Ambassadors generally commit to a minimum of 12 months, but most stay on much longer! It breaks down to about 4 to 7 hours per month (depending on preparation time, driving time, number of presentations, etc.).
